5/20 Stop Cop City Bay Area Council Mobilization and Press Conference

(San Pablo, CA)— Monday, May 20, 2024, 5:00pm - 6:00pm, Stop Cop City Bay Area, the San Pablo Local Organizing Committee, and Anti Police-Terror Project, will host a press conference in opposition to the proposed $44 million regional police training facility in San Pablo. Impacted community members across the Bay Area are coming out to denounce the construction.

In 2020 a huge movement began across the country calling to Defund the police after the murder of George Floyd, Tony McDade, Breonna Taylor; locally Steven Taylor, Erik Salgado, Mario Gonzalez and many, many more who have been killed by police officers. At the same time, police departments began strategizing how to repress, quiet, and maintain control over communities who no longer saw the value in police departments.

Cop Cities are a push to militarize the police department and arm and train police

on how to repress our communities. Basically creating military bases for police. Historically, police do not keep us safe, yet there are Sixty-nine cop cities being built across the USA.

Speakers at the press conference will demand an end to the construction of this facility.
