To our Oakland Community –
Want to see more money being invested in the community? Want to see real solutions that increase safety, health, and wellbeing for our residents? Tired of that fact that so much of our public tax dollars are drained by policing in poor Black and Brown neighborhoods?
Join us for an East Oakland Community Forum to Refund, Restore, and Reimagine our city! Like many places across the country, Oakland is facing many issues like houselessness, violence, and a lack of access to health care and employment. Yet, the city continues to spend almost 50% of our budget on the Oakland Police Department, which just causes more harm and does nothing to address the root causes of our problems. We can do better.
We want to hear from you on where you believe our resources should go, and how to make our vision for a better Oakland a reality.
On Sunday, April 18th, join us for a day of powerful speakers, art making, and cultural performance at Akoma Market where we can collectively support the movement to defund police and refund our communities.
