While many eyes are rightly fixed on Atlanta's cop city, other cities and locales nationwide are following this model. Recent research has uncovered over 48 proposed "cop cities" are underway from Hawaii and New York.
Here in the Bay Area, while facing a housing crisis and budget deficits across the region, the City of San Pablo is building a $44 million cop city. This development only further militarizes the already over-policed City of San Pablo and surrounding cities, like Oakland, that have a history of resistance.
